GRANITE

Granite is extremely hard and durable when longevity and resistance to damage is a strong consideration. It can be polished to a sleek gloss or left with a more antique or rustic finish. Granite is costlier than other stone materials, but many property owners find that its longevity more than justifies the cost.  

LIMESTONE

Limestone is a sedimentary stone that’s a very popular hardscape choice. It is one of the softer varieties of natural stone and is ideal for patios as well as intricately carved features, moldings and statuaries. For a more durable effect, limestone can be sealed and finished to help protect its porous surface.

TRAVERTINE

Travertine is a form of limestone that’s found naturally near hot springs. It brings a classic beauty and elegance to any hardscape project and is available in a distinctive range of beige and tan colors. However, travertine is extremely porous, so having it sealed is strongly advised. 

FLAGSTONE/SANDSTONE

Sandstone, also known as flagstone, is a sedimentary rock that’s a blend of quartz and feldspar. While it can be prone to erosion and wear over time, it is extremely tactile and inviting. Having a finish added to the surface and maintaining it will help to enhance its look and longevity. This is especially important if sandstone is installed near a pool, fountain, waterfall or anywhere else that is prone to moisture.
